What we did
In this project my group, Sophia Moreno, Peter Nebb, and I made a video explaining the physics of baseball to help the students of San Marin. The first thing we did is create a storyboard and script. After we knew what we were going to film we went to batting range to get footage. We studied this footage in order to calculate force and velocity. After this we selected our best footage to put into the video. Then we edited it and added voice overs.
After are first draft we showed are video to our class to get feedback. We figured out what we were going to change. Most of the audio was messed up and we needed to add better transitions. We rerecorded most of our audio and edited some of our footage. In the end this led to us having a better final project. Important physics concepts we used. |

Force of Impact: The force of impact on an object is the amount of force dealt on that object by another. It is calculated by using the equation mv = Ft. When the bat hits the ball it has a certain amount of impact on the ball.
Momentum: Momentum is the tendency of a moving object to keep moving. Momentum is calculated by multiplying the mass of an object by it's velocity. The bat carries a certain amount of momentum.
Impulse: Impulse is how long and how forcefully something is pushed. Impulse is calculated by multiplying force by time. The bat hits the ball with a certain amount of impulse.
Vertical velocity: Vertical velocity is the rate in which an object moves along a vertical plane. Vertical velocity is calculated by multiplying the acceleration due to gravity by the time an object is in the air. The ball flies at a certain vertical velocity.
Horizontal velocity: Horizontal velocity is the rate in which an object moves along a vertical plane. Horizontal velocity is calculated by dividing the horizontal distance by the time an object is in the air. The ball flies at a certain horizontal velocity.
Total Velocity: Total velocity is the total velocity in which an object is moving at. Total velocity is calculated using vector addition. You can add horizontal and vertical velocity by making a right triangle then taking the hypotenuse as the total velocity. The ball flies at a certain total velocity.

Reflection
Overall I think did really well on this project. Some things I did well on were leadership and empathy. I felt that I was able to lead my team throughout the project. One example of this was when my team started drifting off to other groups I found them and brought them back so we could continue working. While keeping my team on task I was also good at seeing things in my teammates and adapting. When we were selecting are sport I suggested something else, but I could tell my teammates did not want to do it, so I asked them what we wanted to do and we came to the conclusion of baseball.
Although I mostly did well I still have some areas where I could improve. Some things that I need to improve on are communication and work ethic. I had trouble this project communicating my ideas to my team. When I disagreed with what my team was saying I did not always bring up my argument. I also did not work my best in everyday. One of the days we were working I went to other groups to talk instead of helping out my group. I need to work on these things in the future.
